Back to School

We began this week by celebrating Labor Day weekend and the last official summer holiday for this year. A clear sign of summer ending is seeing the children gathering and waiting for the yellow school buses and parents bringing their children to school.

It was joyful to witness the Agape Preschool opening for the school year and see children coming to school for the first time. Some were extremely excited, and a few were equally not too thrilled to leave their parents for this first day of school. The parents and grandparents also expressed their emotions with tears and hugs as they wished their children well on the first day. The good news is, after the first hour everyone was settled and happy to meet new friends.

The Agape Preschool at CBC has a long history in Warrenville and has impacted hundreds, if not thousands of lives when you consider the outreach of the students from each generation. There is a generation of parents who were Agape Preschool students in the 80’s that are bringing their children to the preschool program. That is an immensely powerful statement about the quality of care provided by the teachers over the years or decades.

Education is important and this year is the second year for children returning to school after the pandemic. The pandemic offered another option for school attendance and in speaking with several teachers and parents of the K-12, there are still children who remain challenged with making the adjustments.

Let us pray for all the children and teachers as they return to school.

This coming Sunday is Grandparents Day, and we will acknowledge all grandparents during our worship. The message comes from Matthew 18:15-20 and is titled Repurpose.
Looking forward to God’s Blessings as we complete the Summer Sermon Series, “Progress in the Process.”
