As we begin this year as the Community Baptist Church of Warrenville, we are a congregation in transition and preparing for the future.
One might say that we’ve been preparing for the future since the known departure of previous pastoral leadership. We are anxious to get it done and move forward. After all, this is not the first time the church has been at this place. The history of CBC includes numerous pastors from 1836 through today with various visions and spiritual gifts. So, what’s unique about this time and what should be done differently?
This is a good place to look at the CBC history to review its rich heritage, past leadership, community connections, along with continued prayers for the future. In this season of transition, we can pause to reflect on those areas with opportunities for renewal and revitalization. In looking through the history of the Warrenville community and the beginnings of CBC, there is much to celebrate as we build on the rich legacy.
In the intentional interim ministry, it is my purpose to offer spiritual guidance that provides sermons and consultation that will help CBC look both backward and forward in a way that honors God and the legacy of members who have always made the churches mission its own.
Every church going through the pandemic over the past three years has made discoveries during the unplanned transition. So much has changed and there can be more expected as what we once knew changes all around us. Those churches that will thrive in the future are transforming themselves to serve this present age with a vision on the future.
As we hit the ground running in 2023, there’s some tremendous opportunities in joining our hearts together as God’s masterpiece. We were created for such a time as this and it is our time to turn the page in the history of CBC with the year 2023, in front of us.
We will begin a sermon series, “Win The Day” based on a New York Times Best Selling Author, Mark Batterson who just happened to grow up in Naperville.
It is my prayer that this series will complement the work of the congregation and Pastoral Search Team as we prepare for the future.
This Sunday’s message entitled, “Flip The Script” will launch us on the New Year’s journey in the life of CBC. Come, bring a friend, tell a neighbor, share the website link for Sunday worship, and let’s begin the year together… The Best Is Yet To Come… “Flip The Script!”
