PEACE in the Heart of Christmas

During this special time of the year, our anxiety levels can become elevated as we navigate the ever multiplexing and evolving days leading to Christmas. The business merchants are aggressively seeking to direct our attention to the newest, greatest and must have items for this Christmas.

There’s a special sale day for everything Christmas, another day for small businesses, a day for online cyber sales, a day for travel deals, one for nonprofits and it just remains some kind of frenzy as the adult groups sing the favorites Christmas carols like “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”

We have the constant reminders of Christmas as we hear commercials promoting the special date of the week Super Saturday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, Black Friday, Wednesday & Thursday Seniors, along with the sounds of non-stop Christmas music.

Who’s getting any PEACE with so much going on? What happened to PEACE on earth and goodwill to all people?  In each day, we all long for peace and it may be just the serenity of the moment.

When we bring our attention to Christmas, we can find peace. This week while saying goodbye to the Agape preschoolers, a moment of PEACE occurred in the excitement of  witnessing children preparing for Christmas. They shared a couple of Christmas carols and I quickly joined in with them ringing my “Jingle Bells.”

There were no worries about shopping for gifts, preparing for company or concerns about anything as they took great pride in singing the joyful Christmas songs. It was as if the lights in the hallway were illuminating with the glow and joy of Christmas.

Oh, to go back and reminisce on the childhood days of anticipation and waiting for Christmas. The peaceful moments of solitude and quietness with no worries, other than being on the best behavior leading to Christmas.

What’s your peace moment in this season?

Please invite someone to join you during this Advent Season for worship either in person or online. This Sunday’s message titled, “Peace In The Heart of Christmas” will be the second installment of our Advent Sermon Series, “The Heart of Christmas.”

This is a season of miracles and let’s expect the blessings of PEACE for those who need to experience PEACE in their lives.
