It was some years ago, while living on the West Coast and visiting Chicago, I was walking downtown and doing my best to keep up with the pace. The memories of being in downtown Chicago were filled with the expectations of seeing people that I knew while growing up who worked in the city.
I recalled working downtown during the post college years and watching the Sears Tower (currently known as the Willis Tower) being built. The combination of meeting new people at work, remembering others from church and school was like flashing through a rolodex directory much like today’s social media.
On an occasion, while going through the Chicago City Hall, I walked past a friend from elementary school and in the midst, we both turned and called each other’s name. There is something special about taking a second look and recognizing someone that you know. Just in taking a moment, we were able to ask about our families, careers, health and geographical locations.
What an experience after years of changes in our appearances and lives to be able to recognize one another?
Our sermon this Sunday will be the third installment of the “BETTER” sermon series and will be subtitled “CHOICES.” Jesus is recognized and becomes known as the word spreads about people’s lives being changed miraculously.
The scripture references will include a continuation from Mark 1 and selections verses of Proverbs 1:7; James 2:10; & 1 Corinthians 6:12.
We will see how our lives are influenced by God’s Word and the impacts for a “BETTER” new year.
See you on Sunday in-person or on our livestream via YouTube.
