Palm Parade This Sunday

The weather forecast must have heard my hope for nice weather on Sunday. Granted, things might still change between now and then, but it looks like the weather is going to cooperate and not rain on our parade. We’ll make the final call on Sunday so be sure to tune into the livestream.

The plan is to gather on the lawn of the church at 12:30 so you have time to attend the livestream, get a bite to eat, get dressed if need be, and get to the church. We’ll pass out palm fronds with a short blessing and then proceed to parade down Warren Avenue to the gazebo in front of the town hall. You’re welcome to walk or drive. We’ll have a very short time of reflection and prayer at the gazebo before parading back to the church. There will also be a time for you to share a few words reflecting on this past year or looking forward to the future if you would like. Either before or after our parade, you’re also invited to pick up a “Holy Week at Home” bag.

I’m excited to mark this special day in a special way with you all. Taking this celebration to the streets fits with our upcoming Easter theme. While the pandemic turned the world upside down, it’s time to turn the church inside out. In the spirit of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, we will wave our palms in celebration of our hopefully imminent triumph over this pandemic.

I hope you are able to come. It would be a joy to see at least half of your face above your mask! While we eagerly await the day when the whole body of Christ will be reunited, I will take delight in the One who comes in the name of our God!

With Love,

Pastor Annette
