We received a wonderful Advent joyful message through song on this past Sunday from the choir. It was also a great moment to celebrate Sue Pastorek for the 30+ years of service at CBC. In the wonderful spirit of CBC love and hospitality, the surprise recognition was a memorable moment with flowers and an engraved vase. A very warm thank you to all with your support and to the wonderfully blended voices singing the songs of JOY.
There is something very special about music and connecting us through its universal language that takes Christmas all around world. In moments of celebration, we can listen to the Christmas carols song in multiple languages and the music that joyfully brings everyone to the same place.
Whether it’s Mariah Carey singing, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” to Nat King Cole with the “Christmas Song,” we can all embrace this very special time of the year. The sounds of “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Joy to the World” will always ring loud and clear for me. We hear the music in the air as this Christmas reveals to us the LOVE of GOD in giving us CHRIST.
The song of Mary from Luke 1:46-55, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant” provided a song that came from her heart realizing the magnitude of the Holy One that was to be born.
The Advent Season blesses us with the ARRIVAL of Jesus on Christmas Day. During each of the preceding weeks from the first Sunday of Advent on December 3rd, our attention has led us through HOPE, PEACE and JOY.
It was the music of the angels singing “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors” (Luke 2:14 NRSVUE) that sent the sound of music to the shepherds. The message in the music was filled with the LOVE announcing the ARRIVAL.
Our emphasis this week on LOVE will bring the message of the Advent to its ultimate place with the ARRIVAL of CHRIST!
Wow! Can you imagine what it must have been like to live during the announcement of Jesus birth? What a special gift?!! We are blessed to relive this special occasion on this Christmas with the ARRIVAL of CHRIST.
May the reminder of Jesus being born and the joy that Christ brings continue to resonate throughout each day as we celebrate another Christmas Day.
Whether in person or online, join us this Sunday for either or both of our Christmas Eve services at 10:30 AM and/or 11:00 PM as we celebrate the ARRIVAL.
