Each week during the summer months, our schedules are most often filled with activities that keep us quite busy. The plans taking place throughout the summer bring us precious and joyous memories that will remain with us for years to come.
In taking a moment to reflect, I realized my need to pause… slow down… breathe and just be thankful. The brief moments etched in my mind begin with some remarkably simple things. For example, seeing the smile on children’s faces after doing something for the very first time is a lovely reality. It is those small and simple things whether it is a plane, train or car ride to a special event that often become the greatest joys for both child and adult. Be sure to take a moment of time for reflection and gratitude to God, as you acknowledge the wonderful opportunities.
In our Summer Sermon Series on prayer, beginning with the Prayer of Agur and concluding with The Lord’s Prayer, I hope that you have received something that will help you on your journey. Have you considered writing your own version of the Lord’s Prayer? A good place to begin is by reading Matthew 6:9-13 in a different translation like the Message Bible or the international Children’s Version of the Bible. After all, we are on our way and praying is the communication that we have with God!
“Let’s Pray Together – Going for the Gold,” is the subject of this Sunday’s message. Several biblical references will include selected scriptures from Matthew 6:13, Matthew 26:39, along with 1 Corinthians 9:24-27. We have come through a busy summer and God’s preparing us for the future as we complete this Summer Sermon Series on prayer.
I would be delighted to see you in person and/or online as you are able. If you are worshipping online, please check in with our new features that let us know you are in the service.
