Understanding Prayer

Our focus in this Summer Sermon series on Prayer will give you a better understanding of prayer and why it is so important in our lives. This past Sunday, we began the series with “The Prayer of Agur” in Proverbs 30 and during the message, everyone was encouraged to read Proverbs 30.

It is a chapter in Proverbs that seemingly doesn’t get much attention next to Proverbs 31 and the scripture “who can find a virtuous woman” which is often referenced with Women’s Ministry and Mother’s Day. The prayer contained in verses 7-9 and mentions two specific needs of Agur who just wants enough… not too little and not too much. In a world where more is often considered the norm, we will spend time with this prayer and discerning God’s Plan that provides you will something that is just right for you.

As the month of June is in full swing, plans are underway for Father’s Day services on Sunday, June 16th.  We will be taking some time during the service to honor Dads and we will give a gift to all Dads in attendance. We realize that just like Mother’s Day, this is not always an “easy” day for everyone, yet we do believe it is still important to “give honor where honor is due.”

Be sure to get those names of Fathers and father figures to [email protected] by Tuesday, June 11th for inclusion in our special presentation.

This Sunday, we will continue with the second installment of the Summer Sermon Series with “The Prayer of Agur – Part 2” focused on verses 7-9. After receiving several comments on last Sunday’s message, here’s the title of the book, “The Prayer of Agur” by Jay Payleitner. Here’s an additional resource that you may find useful.
