This Sunday we’ll be starting a new series that will carry us through the Summer using some beautiful materials developed by the wonderfully creative team at Sanctified Art. Following the theme “Unraveled,” we’ll be looking at stories in scripture when plans, expectations, vocations, and beliefs among other things, unraveled. Some of these stories are funny. Some are heartbreaking. Many are painfully relatable as we too know what it feels like to have our world unravel in some of the best and worst ways possible.
I’m excited to explore several stories I’ve never had the opportunity to study before. I’m excited to see what the Spirit has to say about the things unraveling in our own lives. I’m also excited to be sharing this experience with others on a larger scale.
You see, a few weeks ago Pastor Justin, who will be installed this Sunday at Trinity Lutheran around the corner, and I discovered that we’ll both be following the threads of this “Unraveled” theme. So we’re in conversation about the possibility of doing some joint ventures, especially since we’ll be exploring this theme in conjunction with a larger town project called “Unraveled and Restored.”
Recognizing the many ways the pandemic unraveled our world last year, several community partners are coming together to create a healthy and safe structure to memorialize how we were impacted by the pandemic—how we endured and supported each other. We decided to call this larger project “Unraveled and Restored” as it’s also about providing opportunities for people to share our hope for the future.
You’ll be hearing more about the various aspects of this joint project in the coming days and throughout the summer. For now, I invite you to open yourself to exploring the threads that hold us together—the unraveling that tears us open and the work of the Spirit that’s always restoring us back to ourselves, back to our communities, and back to a deeper understanding of God
In Love,
Pastor Annette
